Chapter title and photo analysis:
The photo was taken by the Defence Audio Visual Agency. It shows a soldier sitting with his head between his knees holding a Christmas card. It looks like he could be crying. This picture relates to the chapter title because the soldiers really want to go home. Around special events such as Christmas it would make them emotional and want to be at home with their family so much more. I think this photo occurred towards the end of the war. The men have been away from home and family for a very long time and can’t wait to leave Vietnam and the war. This photo makes me upset. I can’t imagine spending Christmas without the people you love, let alone at war knowing that you might not be around next Christmas.
